- Introduction.
This Privacy Policy describes the practices regarding the collection and use of your personal data, and sets forth your privacy rights in relation to GSMA Capacity Building, CE-Digital and GSMA Advance training courses (“Training Courses”).
GSMA Capacity Building and CE-Digital provide training courses to regulators, policymakers and non-profit organisations, while GSMA Advance provides training courses to mobile operators and other commercial organisations.
GSMA Capacity Building and GSMA Advance are provided by the GSMA who acts as the data controller of the data collected on the websites.
CE-Digital is an initiative of GSMA, CAF and ELAC. The GSMA is the data controller of the data collected on the website. Further information about the initiative is available here. Certain personal data may be disclosed to CAF and ELAC as independent data controllers.
- When this Privacy Policy applies
This Privacy Policy applies to all learning platforms and websites in relation to Training Courses under the domains: gsmatraining.com, gsmaadvance.com and cedigital.org, and associated iOS and Android learning apps (“Portals”). It covers all services and products offered and delivered in connection with Training Courses, including both online and face-to-face training.
Our Privacy Policy does not apply to services and products offered by other companies and individuals. We are not responsible for the privacy policies and practices of other websites, even if you access them using links from our websites. We recommend that you check the policy of each site you visit, and contact its owner or operator if you have any questions or concerns. For practices regarding the collection and use of your personal data by CAF and ELAC in relation to CE-Digital training courses please consult their privacy policies.

We will update this Privacy Policy when necessary to reflect changes in our products and services. We encourage you to periodically review the Privacy Policy to learn how GSMA is protecting your personal data. - Collection & Use of Personal Data.
The GSMA collects personal data in order to provide you with Training Courses and our related services and products. We collect personal data you give us, as well as personal data we get from the way you use our services.
We collect personal data you give us, for example, when you create an account on our Portals; register for an online or face-to-face Training Course or subscribe to our publications or newsletter. The personal data we collect include (but is not limited to) your name, job title, organisation name, city, country of residence and email address. We also collect information about you when you use our services or products. For example, when you visit our Portals, or view and interact with our ads and content. This information may include internet protocol (IP) addresses, the region or general location where your computer or device is accessing the internet, browser type, operating system, other information that is provided by the end user device and usage information about the way you use our Portals including a history of the pages you view. From time to time, the GSMA receives personal data about individuals from third parties. This may happen, for instance if your employer is a member of the GSMA and signs you up for a Training Course.
We process your personal data for account administration, to manage payments, to deliver the products and services you require, and to inform you of events, training courses, content, initiatives and other benefits or opportunities associated with the Training Courses. The GSMA may also use this information to help the GSMA understand your needs and interests to better tailor our products and services to meet your needs.
We may contact you by any means of communication which you have given us, including e-mail and post. For any marketing related communications you may choose not to receive such information at the time you are creating your account for any of the Training Courses, or by simply using the details set out at the Contact Us section below.
- Sharing of Personal Data
We do not sell your personal data to anyone.
In addition, we do not share your personal data to third-parties for their independent use unless (1) you request or authorize it, for example by registering to, or giving permission to the GSMA to use your details in this manner; (2) the personal data is provided to our agents, vendors or service providers who perform functions on our behalf, including: external trainers and educational partners; (3) the personal data is provided to comply with the law, enforce an agreement we have with you, or to protect our rights, property or safety, or the rights, property or safety of our employees or others; or (4) the personal data is provided to GSMA affiliated companies.
- Transferring your personal data
In using your personal data as set out in this Policy, it may be processed on a variety of systems, networks and facilities (including databases) worldwide. By way of example, this may happen if one of our affiliates or our service providers is located in a country different than where the data is collected.
In order to transfer personal data worldwide we rely on appropriate transfer mechanisms permitted by data protection legislation.
To the extent any European Economic Area (“EEA”) or Swiss personal data is transferred to a country outside the EEA or Switzerland (except to an Adequate Country, as defined by the European Commission), we use a variety of legal mechanisms, including Standard Contractual Clauses adopted by the EU Commission to ensure your rights and protections travel with your data.

Reasonable access to your personal data will be provided at no cost upon request. If access cannot be provided within a reasonable time frame, we will provide you with a date when the information will be provided.
You also have a right to rectify the record of your personal data maintained by the GSMA if it is inaccurate. You may request that the GSMA erases that data or ceases processing it, subject to certain exceptions. You may also request that the GSMA ceases using your data for direct marketing purposes by accessing your Preference Centre and clicking the unsubscribe button.
In many countries, you have a right to lodge a complaint with the appropriate data protection authority if you have concerns about how the GSMA processes your personal data.
Furthermore, when technically and operationally feasible, the GSMA will—at your request—provide your personal data to you or transmit it directly to another controller.

- Security
We are committed to protecting the security of your personal data. We have implemented appropriate physical, technical and administrative safeguards. We update and test our security technology on an ongoing basis. We restrict access to your personal data to those employees who need to know that information to provide benefits or services to you. In addition, we train our employees about the importance of confidentiality and maintaining the privacy and security of your personal data. We commit to taking appropriate disciplinary measures to enforce our employees’ privacy responsibilities.

- Language
This Privacy Policy may be translated into one or more languages other than English. In the event of any deviation or conflict between the English version and any version translated into another language, the English version shall control.
